Zemira's Oasis

Zemira is the name I have chosen as my dance name, which means Song of Joy.  My given name is Anita, I am married with 3 children.  I started learning Belly Dancing under the instruction of Kerri-Anne Fielding in 2003 with SOUL FIRE BELLY Dance Academy, when my youngest child was 4 months old and have been dedicated to learning the Art of Belly Dance ever since.

At the beginning of 2005 I was given the opportunity to teach classes by Kerri-Anne, which I took up enthusiastically and I am thoroughly enjoying.  Although I have had no formal Dance training I have been dancing since a young age, attending country dances with my parents until my late teens.  Music has also been a huge part of my life, coming from a very musical family with both of my Parents and Siblings playing musical instruments.  I started taking Piano lessons from the age of 6 and these lessons have given me a strong understanding of music.  Although I grew up with country music running through my blood, middle eastern music has certainly taken over.     My husband Terence also plays a big part in my belly dancing, he is one of the founding members of ME-ATTAA Middle Eastern Drummers and we perform together quite regularly.

I have attended workshops with many experienced and well known instructors such as Jrisi Jusakos, Lorelle Hawes, Tamara Williams, Leonie Sukan, Jenika, Paivi, Suraya, Jamal Zraika, Amera, Bella Donna, Shamira, Susan Buntine and Elenie Vlismis-Smith.  I love to attend workshops as they provide me with inspiration and new knowledge.  I intend to further my experience and knowledge by attending future workshops, not only within Australia, but also overseas.  I am very much interested in learning all there is to know about The Art of Belly Dance and the Traditions that lie within.

I like to provide my students with the opportunity to learn in a fun and non-judgmental environment.  Letting their confidence in themselves grow as they learn to master each new individual move or choreography. I am still a student of the Dance, so as I learn I like to pass on my new knowledge.

I am currently studying for my Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
